Janelle Pineda, MA, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. She received her master’s degree from Pepperdine University in 2012. She earned her bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University.
Janelle completed her traineeship and professional development at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego gaining experience providing individual, family, and group therapy to individuals seeking support for their families. Janelle currently provides mental health services to individuals with severe eating disorders, high-risk behaviors, autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays and co-morbid mental illness. Janelle provided services to individuals with various mood disorder, disruptive impulse control and conduct disorders, and other psychotic disorders. At PEP, Janelle specializes in providing comprehensive DBT to teens and adults, families and couples and gender therapy to gender non-conforming, trans and non-binary teens and adults.
Janelle has had experience with incorporating evidence-based practices in treatment: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma Focused (TF CBT). Janelle is also trained in utilizing the practices of AIM High, Family Based Treatment for Eating Disorders- Maudsley-Model, Play Therapy, and High Risk Assessment.
